Training in Taxidermy


Thank you for your interest in Missoula Valley School of Taxidermy. Whether your desire to learn taxidermy stems from a life long ambition, or perhaps an interest in a career change, you have taken the first step towards achieving your goals in this exciting and rewarding profession!

 

 

 

To make it easier to for you to enter this exciting field, we are rolling back tuition prices to what they were when we started in 2000. Please check our Tuition page for the summer course prices. 


Over the past several years Taxidermy has evolved from a low paying hobby type trade, to a commercial quality profession from which a very comfortable living can be made. Our in-depth taxidermy courses are geared to prepare you for successful self employment, no matter what your individual circumstances.


Because of the diverse needs of our students, we offer a variety of taxidermy courses. You have the option to choose from 2, 4, 6 or 8 week courses, depending upon the training time you have available, as well as your areas of interest. You will be fully trained in the taxidermy course of your choice, by National Level Award Winning taxidermy instructors.


Our taxidermy instruction takes place in a fully equipped and operating studio using the most advanced techniques and equipment available. Our new one level facility consists of a taxidermy showroom, a large classroom with demonstration and individual work areas, a painting and finishing room, a salting room, drying rooms, freezer rooms, storage rooms, and a break room with refrigerator and microwaves.

Topics include:

 Extreme form alterations, Pedestals, Detachable antlers, Casting and molding, Advanced habitat techniques and evaluations, European skulls, Skull cleaning, and bleaching (with our own dermestid beetle colony on site). Learn our secrets for obtaining Super Clean, Super White European Skulls.
