I am so glad that I chose to begin my taxidermy career at the Missoula Valley School of Taxidermy. I have a full time job and was looking for a taxidermy school that was flexible with my vacation schedule at work. I was a little hesitant about taking a 2 week mammal class since I was not sure that I could learn enough to go at it on my own. I was pleasantly surprised at how well organized the course was, and everything I learned during my two week stay was exactly what I needed to begin working on my own. Tim Wood is an excellent teacher and was always willing to stay after the class to help answer any additional questions and continue to work on projects. Tim is also always willing to answer my calls when I have questions as I work at home. I gained enough knowledge from the two week course to begin taking work from clients and producing high quality mounts.

I recently returned for another two week course to cover birds, and my wife came to take the rug class from Christy Wood. We were so impressed with both Tim and Christy’s ability to teach the art of taxidermy that we would recommend this school to all of our friends and family.

Thank You,

Mike and Kate Nelson

Missoula Valley School of Taxidermy offers everything the career-minded taxidermist is looking for. Whether its one of the two-week mini-courses, or the eight-week course that cover birds, fish and mammals, MVST has everything aspiring or experienced taxidermists need to become outstanding taxidermists.

As a student of the eight-week course offered at MVST, I was amazed at how much I learned about taxidermy. Each lesson and demonstration Tim gave was extremely comprehensive and thorough. From skinning, hide preparation, and mounting, to finish work and airbrush techniques, every aspect of the mounting process was covered. Because the class size was small, students were able to get plenty of one-on-one instruction and observe as a wide variety of specimens were prepped and mounted.

As an instructor, Tim is demanding, yet he teaches his classes in a relaxed way that doesn’t put undue stress on his students. He is also willing to work the extra hours needed to ensure his students are satisfied with their work, even if it means staying at the shop after regular class hours on occasion.
The professional way in which classes are taught at MVST result in high quality workmanship by students who are just entering the taxidermy profession as well as experienced taxidermists who are taking the class to improve their skills. I have no doubts that anyone who is dedicated to becoming a professional taxidermist that chooses to enroll in one of MVST’s courses will be extremely pleased with the work they are able to accomplish while under Tim’s instruction.

Sincerely,
Juli
